WHAT IS THE 11+ EXAM?

11+ Exam refers to competitive school entrance exams that are typically required for entrance to Grammar, selective independent and Private schools in the UK. The 11 Plus is the voluntary exam (Selective Eligibility Test) taken by students at the beginning of year 6 who wish to gain admission into a grammar or independent and private schools, for entry in year 7. This exam has become extremely competitive as more students are taking the exam on a yearly basis, and so it is important for students to begin preparing for the examination well in advance of their test date.

WHAT WE COVER IN 11+ EXAM TUITION?

For 11+ Exams, we prepare students for GL/CEM

11+ Learning will cover following contents of each subjects:

1. English –Eleven plus English include includes following contents. Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPAG), Synonym and Antonyms, Vocabulary, Word Types, Writing & Comprehension, Fiction and Non-Fiction Writing,

2. Maths –11+ Maths includes all aspects variety of Maths contents. Rounding, Numerical Reasoning, Numbers & Place Value, Data Handling, Multiplication & Division, Fractions, Percentages. Units & Measures, Shapes & Space, time and mix problem solving.

3. Verbal Reasoning –Verbal Reasoning is probably considered the best way to test a child’s ability to learn or innate intelligence. Many private schools use Verbal Reasoning tests as part of their entrance examinations.

Contents: Alphabetical order, letter sequences, crossword puzzles, word codes, algebra, Missing Letters, Odd Words, Analogy, Multiple Meanings, Ordering Words, Cloze Questions, number codes word connections.

4. Non-Verbal Reasoning –Non-verbal reasoning involves the ability to understand and analyse visual information and solve problems using visual reasoning. This test is not language based and is based on the use of pictures, symbols, patterns and shapes.

Contents: Analogies, Shapes order and position, Layering, Spotting Patterns, Similarities and Differences, Pairs, Series & Grid, Rotation & Reflection, Hidden & Connecting shapes, 3D Shapes and Spatial Reasoning.

We provide 11+ tuition to students of Year 4 to Year 6 to get prepared for the 11+ exam of private, independent or Grammar schools.

Students learning are based on the following categories:

Lessons are planned based on the GL and CEM Assessments entrance exam structure, which means they are prepared for any 11+ exam. Also integrating specific learning approaches and memory boosting techniques, our 11+ Tuition lessons will assist your child in becoming an effective lifelong learner. All this work will build towards the end of Year 6 when they will take their KS2 SATs (Standard Attainment Tests).
